Die F\u00e4hre f\u00e4hrt nur viermal pro Woche, \u00fcberf\u00fcllt mit Menschen, Waren \u2013 und Hoffnung. Zwischen lebenden H\u00fchnern, Bananenstauden und ersch\u00f6pften M\u00fcttern gibt die \u00dcberfahrt einen Einblick in das harte Inselleben \u2013 gepr\u00e4gt von Armut, Krankheit und Verzweiflung.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Doch die Hoffnung hat einen Namen: Shadrob Junior School.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Vor zwei Jahren lernten wir dort 80 Kinder kennen \u2013 hungrig, auf staubigem Boden sitzend. Heute, dank der Unterst\u00fctzung von PUC, besuchen 180 Kinder die Schule, bekommen t\u00e4glich eine warme Mahlzeit und lernen in sichereren R\u00e4umen. Stolz pr\u00e4sentiert die Schule das einzige gemauerte Toilettengeb\u00e4ude der Insel \u2013 feierlich eingeweiht mit Musik, Tanz und Tr\u00e4nen der Freude.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Aber die Freude ist bedroht. Neue staatliche Vorschriften verlangen feste Schulgeb\u00e4ude \u2013 doch private Schulen erhalten keine Hilfe. Ohne schnelle Unterst\u00fctzung droht der Verlust der Schullizenz. Gemeinsam mit Architekt:innen aus M\u00fcnster wollen wir das verhindern.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Doch hinter den Mauern der Schule verbirgt sich ein gr\u00f6\u00dferes Drama. Internationale Konzerne kontrollieren den Fischfang auf dem Viktoriasee. Die Inselm\u00e4nner, in die Illegalit\u00e4t gedr\u00e4ngt, fischen nachts unter Lebensgefahr. Jeden Monat sterben zwei bis drei von ihnen. 2.000 Witwen leben heute auf der Insel.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Der Fischfang ist die einzige Einkommensquelle. Bleiben die Netze leer, bleibt auch die Schulkasse leer.
